Description

One issue that seems to be on the forefront of art is relying on your "human" aspect, and expressing "you" in order to create art. But just what is it that makes you "you", makes you human? By utilizing digital techniques I was able to create a series of "snapshots" that depict animals in seemingly human situations. Are we so different than the animals we share this earth with? We naturally tend to anthropomorphize animals, treating dogs and cats like family. In this project I have taken that idea to the next level, by showing the viewer an extreme case of anthropomorphism. Is it weird and wrong? Just where do we draw the line, and why? I hope that maybe you think about who we are as humans, and if we really are any different than the animals in the zoos that are almost a novelty to us.

This photograph is one in an evolving series I will continue to work on for the next month trying to explore what it is that makes us human. This isn't meant to focus so much on the physical aspects of humanity, but rather the mental aspects, and ultimately I would like to leave the viewer reflecting on how similar we all are.
